Keeping with the theme of 80’s videos I’ve been ordering for yet-to-be-conceived Baby Daniels, I recently obtained the entire collection of Today’s Special and Pinwheel. Just hearing the theme songs to these classics overwhelms me with joy. I used to LOVE watching these when I got home from school each day. Since we’ve already bought Heathcliff and every Looney Tunes ever made our poor child will probably be AMAZED the day they see new Japanimation or some kind of Hannah Montana junk at their friends house. (I also found the entire seasons of David the Gnome. I know, I know. SWOON!)
I don’t want to deprive them of the new stuff, simply appreciate the old stuff too.
A few weeks back I went on a quick little Girls Weekend trip with some fabulous ladies. We had plans to turn it into a full blown sleepover weekend with spa treatments and movies. We cooked dinner and caught up after not seeing each other together for almost 6 years. I surprised the girls with one of my favorite things ever: giftbags!

Ta-Da! And totally inexpensive. I created a design with our names and used that through out. I ordered the bags and coffee mugs online from a photo gift site and spent the month or so getting up to the trip gathering cute things to fill them. I stuck with the theme and got Bath & Body Works treats, sleep masks, cotton candy, loofahs, creams and each got a chick flick. I also included a framed picture of us the last time we were together. They came together great and didn’t require too much work or moola. Success.
Besides being a wonderful southern belle, my Mother has a way with threads. We’re talking blue ribbon winner year after year at the state fair kinda way. No, my Mom is not the Nugget of Joy this week (although she has brought me such joy for 29 years!!) but these sweet little shoes she made instead!!
I was doing the ol “shop for the anticipated baby” search on Etsy and found a pattern for some adorable little shoes for infants. I purchased the pattern and sent the .pdf to her via email (we live 600 miles apart). Then I headed to the fabric store to pick out some funky little fabrics & buttons to mail her asap! A week or so later: voila’!

Um, I’m sorry……………….Did you not see that adorableness?? I just swoon over these little soft loafers. I went with big bright buttons with funky fabric or vintage print and plaid with wooden buttons for a vintage feel. Unisex is a must because 1) I have oh so many friends waiting to find out the sex of their baby and 2) I have oh so many friends that like bright colored unisex prints for their girls and modern boys. Those feather nuggets up there are one of our favorites. Of course there are still some precious floral prints with pearly buttons for the girlie girl. And my Mom threw in a sequined pair with ballerina print insoles!! Ugh, swoon I tell ya.

Got this cuuuuute skirt today during a successful little lunch trip to Macy’s. It’s navy, cotton, and 60% off. What more can a girl ask for!?! (Please excuse my sleepy little puppy in the corner).

Just in case I haven’t blogged about it enough lately, I am overly squee thrilled with the fact that 1) today is my Friday, and 2) I am headed down to the beach tomorrow for a reunion style girls weekend that is SURE to be a blast.
One of the gals that is leaving behind the husband (and twins monkeys) is Jenny from the block. Yeah, that block. She’s driving all the way from the sticks Louisiana to join us in Galveston. The other two ladies are both in Houston and I’m of course driving in from Austin. There is some serious rain and storm action on the radar for this weekend, but since we planned on lots of chick flicks, face masks and vino I think we’ll be jussssssst fine.
*Note: When reviewing recently my Nuggets of Joy I found that apparently Nugget of Joy No.4 and Nugget of Joy No.7 did not feel the need of showing up to the party. So yes this is basically like Nugget of Joy No.7, but lets just pretend it’s like the 13th floor and skip ‘em….. ok? Thanks.
Somehow I’ve lived in this great city for a few years now and have never met this brilliant gal. Austin’s very own Kayla Kromer made this gorgeous bed and only recently did she sell it on ebay for a fundraiser. (The bed currently lives with its new owner in the Windy City.)
Kayla, I think I’m in love. And I’d also love to take you out for a burger. My treat.

I may or may not have totally just bought these little nuggets for our yet to be conceived child. Yes, I know. I know. But they are SO cute I couldn’t resist. PS- I’m obsessed with all things navy and/or nautical and I’m all about ze anchors.

My wonderful husbie did the “We’re not buying gifts this year” fake out and snuck in with diamonds & pearls!! He surprised me with a Diamond Fleur De Lys pendant and a classic length white pearl set - earrings and necklace. SWOON I tell ya, swoon.
I’m going to a bridal shower in Dallas, TX this weekend and got this totally bridal shower appropriate little number. I’ll be wearing it with my Charles by Charles David nude sandals and some nude-ish, baby pink nails. Unsure one what to go with on the nail color. Feel free to suggest!

I’m obsessed with Navy. There, I said it. I hope it is permanent because I’m growing fond of everything navy, however this could very well be a seasonal fling. (But for the record, if you make it navy and white striped, I’m buying it.)
So I got these navy nuggets at ShoeDazzle. Pretty neat site and I’ve been doing it for a year. Skip the month if you dont want anything, but if you do- Its $39.99 total and at your door in 3 days. (They just added purses and jewelry too). BE WARNED: You might get a not so beuno selection for a few months causing you to claim that you’re “gonna quit this”. But for a option each month to buy some cheap stuff- it’s worth it for sure.

Just bought those darling “bloom” shoes to go with this cotton Vera Wang dress to wear to a wedding in New Mexico this weekend.
Road trip, AND a new outfit. A girl’s in luck!

Oh boy the joys that www.alice.com has brought me. Since I am a civilized individual that bathes, I typically despise Walmart. Now, don’t get me wrong… A midnight trip for more floaties during the summer pool parties can be a blast. For the most part I do my grocery shopping at a super-mega-department store-esque HEB about once a month. In the middle of those months I usually remember the things that I forgot to buy, or I run out of them completely. Well, Alice is perfect for that. Free shipping and it arrives in 2 days!
The only downfall that I have found is that you have to have at least 6 items in your cart in order for them to ship. With gum, granola bars and items as low as 1.00 I can always fill up the “cart” in order to make shipments. What I’ve learned now over the past few months of using Alice is that I compile my list as I remember what we need and when I get 6 in the cart I ship.
So what does this mean for my grocery trips? Well it means only having to go to the store or the Farmer’s Market for perishables!! YEAH FOR NO MORE WALMART!!
(Target, I still love you and wont forsake you. Don’t you worry that pretty little bulls eye of yours.)

Now, here’s Zorak
With a very important nugget of joy for us
[Zorak]
I ran to get into shape once
I ran and ran and ran
Ol’ runnin’ Zorak
That’s what they used to call me
Ol’ runnin’ Zorak
Hee-Hee
Then I developed the worst bunyon
On the pinky toe of my left foot
Ugghh…I done me in
So I started conquering galaxies
Muaaahahahahaha!!!

I just ordered this gem on DVD recently for our future bambino. After singing “Lambert The Sheepish Lion” for so long, I just had to sit down and find it. Well, not only was I able to find it at a great price, but this collection has “Casey at the bat” and even “Pecos Bill” (narrated by Roy freaking Rogers).
You’re welcome unborn child. You’re welcome.
